Throughout the last 40 years, we have built a solid track record for delivery of excellent client service and management of domestic and commercial pest services.
If you have been battling moths and weevils in your pantry and kitchen areas and losing the battle, here are a few low toxic tips.
I would also like to introduce you to some of the products that we have been using for over 38 years that get great results.
Bayer Products That We Use and Recommend
Ever since I started my first pest control business 38 years ago we always used Bayer Products because they had a solid reputation for effectiveness, safety and customer support. Cislin was always what we reached for when we wanted to use a safe, non-fuming insecticide that wouldn’t stain surfaces.
Today we still use it, particularly for stored product pests such as pantry moths.
Bruce Gow Holding Suspend Flexx – Registered for Stored Product Pest Control
I was giving a talk on this annoying pest in front of my business networking group BNI a couple of years ago and I told them that I had an unfortunate error on my paperwork. I was casting an eye over my stationary before updating it and discovered that I had been handing out a pest control invoice with an embarrassing typo. I saw that on the back of the sheet on the job codes I had mistakenly written, “Panty Moths”. Yep, it should have read “Pantry Moths” – Oh dear!
We mainly use two Bayer low toxic insecticides, “Cislin 25” with the active ingredient of Deltamethrin and “Tempo ” with the active ingredient of Imadacloprid. Â

These type of stored product pests infest the following products: cereal, dry pasta, dry pet food, bird seed, grain and grain based products, dried fruit, chocolate, nuts and spices.
Professional Strength TrapsÂ
 1. Place trap where baby moths and adults are noticed, especially in kitchen and other rooms where the above products are stored.
3. If no moths are caught in the first day, move to a new location. Heavy infestations sometimes require more than just one glue trap and low toxic bombs with an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) are highly recommended after removal of pantry and cleaning. We can supply these as part of our services, or you can buy them directly for about $17 for a pack of 3 from Coles, Woolworths etc.
NB: Coles now have a cheap version of Mortein bombs which contain exactly the same ingredients but are much cheaper. Important: Read the label and follow directions. Look for the Active Constituents, which are 10.0g/kg PERMETHRIN AND 0.77g/kg Fenoxycarb.

Do It Yourself Method:
Firstly search for adult moths or baby moth larvae. Adult moths are normally a greyish colour with sometimes red or white flecks. They are about 1.27 centimetres long. Baby small moths are about 1.27 centimetres and look something like worms with legs.
Mostly people see moths flying near pantries of food cupboards at night but sometimes also during the day.
Inspect all the cereals and dry food in your pantry, chucking out anything remotely “dodgy” or not in sealed containers. Moths are very cunning and can squeeze into what you may consider to be air-tight containers.
How To Get Rid of Pantry Moths in Sydney
Inspect all food containers for cocoon webbing. Look for clumps of webs or somewhat grainy material.
Even look under the lips of all your glass and plastic containers.
The importance of Emptying and Cleaning all Shelves
I know that it is a hassle, but the ONLY way to do the job properly yourself, and even with professional help is to remove everything including food containers, pots and pans etc from your pantry.
Then dice (throw out) any infested food or food that even shows signs of infestation. My motto is, “When in doubt, throw it out!
A thorough vacuuming is next recommended. Vacuum out all of the pantry and shelves after getting through the emptying.
Remove and replace any lining after treatment .You may need to get rid of plastic and other bags from the pantry as well.
Clean the pantry with disinfectant after scrubbing with soap and hot / warm water.
Wash or throw out old containers. This will let you inspect for any signs of infestation.
Dry any of your sealed food containers before putting any food back in the pantry or cupboards. This is because moths and larvae need water to survive, so keep things dry.
Dump all of your containers, infested foods and bags in the garbage outside.
For organic, non-toxic pest control, simply remove all infested items and scrub vigorously with vinegar and hot water.
Essential oils, peppermint, tea tree oils, citronella, bay leaves and eucalyptus work best.
