Repellent: the chemical used to repel insects, ticks, mites or vertebrate pests.

Residual Insecticide: a film-like layer, somewhat crystalline, forms on surfaces where insects are expected to congregate or reside.

Factors which determine the effectiveness of a Residual Insecticide vary between the surface applied to, external weather conditions, humidity and the strength of the Active Ingredient.

Resurgence: Pest Control, referencing a return of a pest presence which has been previously
treated. Such as the resurgence of a cockroach infestation weeks after treatment has been conducted.

Resistance: a tolerance for insecticide which is developed by insects through the process of repetitive treatment with similar insecticides/chemicals which might result in a “resistant” strain of insects being produced.
