Termite Inspections Are Necessary for
Sydney PropertiesDo you need a termite inspection and report for a
Sydney property? If so, read on to find out what’s involved in termite inspections and reports in Sydney.Sydney is at a high-risk level for termites!
Subterranean termites abound in the
Sydney region. The warm and moist climate in the area means that these creatures are happy to make themselves at home on Sydney properties. It is estimated that as many as one third of properties may be affected by termites. This makes it a high priority to have termite inspections done once or twice a year.Finding the culprits!
Of course finding the termites isn’t so easy. Subterranean termites are very small and operate underground and in hidden spaces. They may hide under your floor, or in your roof or wall cavities. Unlike rodents you are not likely to hear termites scratching and munching! Termites can also chew their way through a building structure causing untold damage within a matter of months. To make matters worse there is no home insurance available for termite damage. This is where a professional inspection is a must.
There are different types of termite inspections
A basic visual inspection is likely to cost around $250. The inspector will then be able to advise you on the species of termite on your place, the level of infestation, and the degree of property damage that has occurred, if any. During an inspection, a moisture meter may also be utilised.
A thermal inspection on the other hand will cost more, but it provides a superior method in pin-pointing the exact locations of termite activity. Termites produce enough heat for this to occur, and with the right equipment – such as a thermal imaging camera – detection is made a lot easier and more accurate. A thermal inspection may even save you money, as it avoids the need to apply treatments where they are not necessary.
A termite report provides written evidence of the inspection results and photos if required. A termite inspection and report really are a must when you are considering buying a property in
Sydney, so that you know what you are getting into!I don’t think I have termites. Why do an inspection?
Termites are hard to spot when you are not used to looking for them. A professional inspector has the expertise to know how to spot termites, and to determine the level of activity. This also means that you can apply any necessary treatments before the problem gets any worse – which has the potential to cost you a whole lot more!
